Person Pulled From Burning Truck at KY Speedway Race

July 10--Fire broke out in a pickup truck outside Kentucky Speedway during the Quaker State 400 around 9:15 p.m. Saturday, and track first responders pulled someone out of the vehicle.
The fire seriously damaged the white GM truck where it started, as well as a Nissan car next to it. A red truck parked on the other side was seared.
Speedway General Manager Mark Simendinger told the Herald-Leader's Mark Story that the fire started in the cabin of the white truck and that someone had been rescued.
Simendinger said the first responders kept the situation from being much worse. "I always tell our people be prepared, something weird will happen. But we never envisioned this," Simendinger said. "Think we've seen again tonight why a good friend of mine refers to Kentucky Speedway as 'The Bermuda Tri-oval,'"
