BUENA PARK – A man jumped from a two-story window to safety after fire broke out early Saturday inside his apartment unit, authorities said.

The blaze was reported around 12:30 a.m. in the 5800 block of Kingman Avenue, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.

Firefighters were notified that a man in his 20s trapped in an apartment unit on fire was hanging out of a window.

However, when personnel arrived he had already jumped about 15 feet to safety, Concialdi said.

The man sustained minor injuries and refused transportation by ambulance to an area hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The blaze resulted in about $150,000 in damages to the apartment and its contents.

About 30 personnel from OCFA and Anaheim and Fullerton fire departments had the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
