One person is dead and several others were displaced after an early morning blaze at a large Sheboygan apartment complex, the Sheboygan Fire Department said Sunday.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 3615 W. Business Drive around 4 a.m. The complex is believed to have about 40 units.
Battalion Chief Keith Risse said the north half of the complex was completely destroyed, and the south half was damaged by smoke and heat.
The American Red Cross has set up a temporary shelter for displaced residents at Farnsworth Middle School.
The cause of the fire and a damage estimate were not immediately available. The State Fire Marshal is on the scene, and the blaze remains under investigation.
