A huge fire at a power plant in the US territory of Puerto Rico has left a vast portion of the island and 1.5 million of its residents in the dark.
According to BBC News, fire hit two transmission lines that caused the collapse of the electricity system cross the island.
Power was expected to be restored to most areas on Thursday, according to the BBC report.
The power plant fire caused traffic chaos as well as school and business closures, the BBC reported. It also caused 15 other fires across the island because of malfunctioning generators.
Although the cause of the fire is unclear the electric power authority has been been seeking funds to replace outdated equipment.
