A “significant structure fire” hit a Harbor Springs resort hotel this early this morning and there are reports that several guests suffered injuries, mostly smoke inhalation. Some reportedly jumped to escape injuries from the fire.
According to a report published by Mlive.com, the fire was reported at about 2 a.m. at the main lodge of the Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs.
The resort posted news about the fire on its Facebook page which said: “The Main Lodge hotel at Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs experienced a significant structure fire this morning. There are unconfirmed reports of injuries among guests escaping the fire. The Harbor Springs Area Fire Department and local EMS are on scene managing the situation. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.”
According to the report published by Mlive, guest were said to have guests who jumped from windows to escape the flames.
Fire suppression efforts were still on going as of 8 a.m. Central time according to Harbor Springs police and emergency crews.
Harbor Springs Police Officer Lyle Reece said all available firefighters and EMS personnel in the area, most of whom are volunteers have been summoned to battle the blaze and tend to the injured.
