A four-alarm fire has destroyed a furniture store in North Bergen on Wednesday afternoon.

A four-alarm fire has destroyed a furniture store in North Bergen on Wednesday afternoon.

According to television station ABC7NY the fire broke out at the Kennedy Furniture building on John F. Kennedy Boulevard and sending up plumes of smoke that could be seen for miles. Smoke was blown across the Hudson River and into Manhattan.

The fire, according to the television station, started in the back of the store and extended to the entire building.

Witnesses said there were about six people in the store, customers and workers combined.

There were no immediate injuries reported.
