Early Morning Fire Causes $10,000 in Damage to IL Burger King

Oct. 19, Peoria—A fire early Friday caused $10,000 in damage to the Burger King at 3129 N. University St. At 1:30 a.m., Peoria firefighters were notified of smoke coming from the roof of the eatery. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames spewing from the roof.  

Crews forced their way into the building and found fire inside the hood vent system over the grill area, the department said. The blaze was contained to the hood system with no structure damage.  

The Peoria City/County Health Department was notified. Pending its inspection, the business will reopen, the fire department said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
