OH Men Face Arson Charges in Fires that Injured FFs

Two men have been arrested after they were indicted on 57 charges related to arson fires spanning almost five years, including the swine barn fire at the Darke County Fairgrounds last year and a barn fire that injured two firefighters.
Randy R. Mogle, 30, and Christopher L. Garland, 30, both of Greenville were arrested for 44 counts of fourth-degree arson, three counts of second-degree aggravated arson, eight counts of first-degree aggravated arson, one count of engaging in a pattern to corrupt activity, and conspiracy to engage in a pattern of corrupt activity.
The fires date back as far as June 2014, and the latest is May 2019. They include an Oct. 25, 2018, incident at the Darke County Fairgrounds swine barn fire that caused an estimated damage of more than $1 million, as well as an Oct. 6, 2018, fire at the Book Store, 307 Pine St., and a May 9, 2019, barn fire at 5161 Beamsville Union City Road that injured two firefighters.
These indictments were a result of a joint investigation by the Greenville Police Department, Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Greenville Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
A one count indictment of obstructing official justice also was returned for Mogle’s girlfriend, Britany Keaser, 31.
All three are currently in jail.
