Sep. 14—Officials are still investigating the cause of a three-alarm fire at Trump National Golf Course Hudson Valley in Hopewell Junction on Friday, Sept. 10.
"All I know is it's definitely not suspicious," said East Fishkill Fire District Chief Frank Lacalamita. "It's not like, 'Hey, listen someone did it.' It's not like that at all. The place has tons of cameras, there was nobody around — there was nothing suspicious at all."
The private 300-acre, 18-hole Trump National Golf Course and country club is located at 178 Stormville Road in Hopewell Junction, Dutchess County.
The fire was called in by a bystander. The East Fishkill Fire Department was dispatched to the golf course at around 9:20 p.m. to put out the blaze, which officials said was centralized to a structure that houses golf carts.
It took approximately 70 firefighters from multiple departments to extinguish the fire in about two hours, according to Lacalamita. Firefighters used three ladder trucks and multiple handlines across three additional water sources to ease the fire.
"We were met with heavy fire on our arrival," he said
The Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division and the East Fishkill Fire Investigation team are still determining the exact cause, and Lacalamita could not disclose how and precisely where the fire originated.
The golf course could not be reached for comment.
