Texas Medic Loses Wife, Two Sons in House Fire While at Work

The Parker County house fire claimed the lives of a woman and two boys while their father, who is also a firefighter, was at work for Sacred Cross EMS.

Aug. 19—The wife and two sons of a North Texas first responder died in a Parker County structure fire on Monday.

The fire was reported on Lake County Drive around 9:51 p.m., with initial information indicating the structure was fully ablaze and three of its occupants were unaccounted for, according to a news release from Parker County Emergency Services.

Firefighters arrived and worked to contain the fire to gain access inside. Three people were found during a search of the structure and confirmed to be dead, Parker County firefighters said in the release. The Parker County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Palo Pinto Emergency Services confirmed in a social media post that Alexis Renfroe and her children, 4-year-old Alekzander Joshua Renfroe and 10-year-old Cody Lock Jr died in the fire. They were the family of a North Texas first responder, Herstle Renfroe, who spent the past eight years with Sacred Cross EMS and served as a volunteer firefighter with the Palo Pinto Volunteer Fire Department, according to the social post.

A benevolent fund has been established to support Herstle Renfroe in covering burial arrangements and other expenses.

"For years, Herstle has answered the call when others were facing some of the worst moments of their lives," Palo Pinto Emergency Services said in the social media post. "Today, it's our turn to answer the call for him."
