NY Firefighters Deliver Baby During Storm

Nov. 16, 2018
Firefighters in Yonkers delivered a baby boy Thursday night when an ambulance was unable to arrive on scene due to extreme weather.

A winter storm that blanketed the New York City area put a crew of firefighters on the spot when a woman went into labor.

The Yonkers Tribune reports that a crew of firefighters in Yonkers, which sits just north of the Big Apple in Westchester County, responded to a call of a woman in labor early Thursday evening.

Due to the extreme weather that eventually dropped six inches of snow on the area, an ambulance was unable to get to the scene for two hours, leaving the firefighters to deliver the baby. The crew made the delivery at 6:22 p.m. and provided care to the baby boy and mother until the medical unit finally arrived.

The crew consisted of Capt. Anthony Porco and firefighters Brian Dunn, Brian Mulqueen and Jonavy Arias.
