Five paramedics who tried to save a man's life were allegedly attacked by his sons, who also damaged an emergency vehicle Wednesday.
Paramedics responded to a call in Baldwin concerning a man who was having trouble breathing, WTAE-TV reports. According to police, two of the man's sons allegedly threatened to kill and attack the medics, claiming the first responders weren't doing enough to help their father. They later were accused of throwing a traffic cone through an ambulance's window at the hospital after learning their dad had died.
The brothers—Philip and Paul Chalmers, both 49—were charged with aggravated assault and obstructing emergency services, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. It was unclear if the paramedics were injured in the incident.
A third brother was accused of intentionally setting fire Thursday to the house that the paramedics had responded to the previous day. Vincent Chalmers, 46, was taken into custody in the Meadville area by Pennsylvania State Police, and he is being held there until he can be extricated to face arson charges.
