The medical transport plane crashed near Chinle Airport Tuesday.
A crash involving a medical transport plane in northeast Arizona has left four people dead Tuesday afternoon.
Officials said the dual-propeller plane was enroute to a hospital to pick up a patient when it crashed near Chinle Airport in Apache County.
The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m., the Arizona Republic reported. When the plane crashed, it erupted into flames and firefighters from Navajo Nation Fire & Rescue Services responded.
The Navajo Police Department said the passengers were not local and that the plane was owned by CSI Aviation out of Albuquerque, NM.

“This is a tragic loss to the families of those onboard and to the medical air and first responder community,” Navajo police said in a social media post. “We extend our deepest condolences to their family and loved ones during this time.”
Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Traffic Safety Bureau are enroute to the scene.
