Firefighters helping a patient isn't that unusual, but two Missouri firefighters went the extra mile getting a woman to the hospital. Literally.

The Maryland Heights firefighter paramedics pushed the female patient nearly a mile up an icy hill to the hospital after their ambulance became stuck in the snow and ice Sunday, WJTV-TV reports. Unknown to the firefighters, an image of their effort was shared on social media and went viral.

"She was very appreciative, very thankful … and she talked to us the whole way, and she just couldn't thank us enough, so she was very sweet," firefighter Shaylor Taetz told WJTV.
