Suspected Drunk Driver Hits Parade Crowd, Injures 13 in New Iberia Parish, LA
A suspected drunk driver plowed through a crowd during a parade in New Iberia Parish Saturday afternoon leaving 13 injured, some seriously.
Acadian Ambulance officials reported 13 patients were transported to hospitals, including two who were flown to a trauma center, WDSU reported.
Bystanders attending Louisiana Lao New Year Festival rushed to help the injured.
Louisiana State Police reported the breath alcohol level of Todd Landry, 57, of Jeanerette, was 0.137.
He was charged with 18 counts of first-degree negligent injuring, driving while impaired, careless operation, and open container.
The investigation is continuing.
