Indianapolis Shooting Victim Treated by Cobb County, GA, Firefighters in Town for FDIC
Three Cobb County firefighters -- in Indianapolis for FDIC -- ran to help a gunshot victim.
“I was looking behind the counter, and I hear the gunshot, And I see a gentleman, and he says he may see the victim laying on the ground. So, we go outside and look around the corner, and he was laying there in the parking lot,” Firefighter TJ Proulx told Fox59.
After Fire Engineer Greg Baker determined the area was safe, the trio left the restaurant and ran to help.
“We walk up to the patient. We don’t have gloves yet or anything. We’re just trying to assess him, getting pressure on what we can see where he’s bleeding from, try to stop the bleed,” Baker said, adding that restaurant staff ran over with gloves and paper towels.
“I first initially spoke with PD that was on the scene. And I told them ‘hey, relay this to your incoming ambulance what we have, gunshot wounds to a male victim. We’re working on him, getting direct pressure on him.’
Baker relayed the patient information to Indianapolis medics who agreed the victim needed to be transported immediately.
Firefighter Aaron Mabry added the three worked as a team to assess the injuries and provide proper treatment that included direct pressure.
