One Killed in Blast at Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Maintenance Facility

Miami-Dade firefighters who found a fire coming from underground vaults reported four people were injured.

One person was killed and others were injured in an explosion at a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue logistics facility Monday.

Miami-Dade Fire Chief Ray Jadallah told WPLG crews found an overhang destroyed and an active fire coming from underground.

“From what we see, it may have been a gasoline cell that’s underground. There’s three vaults underground. I believe there may have been some work that was being conducted, but we’re conducting that investigation.”

A Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office lieutenant and two other victims were transported to hospitals while another drove themself.

The investigation is continuing.
