The San Antonio Fire Department has recently added two identical brush trucks its fleet.
Both trucks are built on modified F-450 Fords which are 4x4 and are designed to be able to fight fires off-road. The frames on both of these trucks have been modified to accept Special Super Single Off Road tires.
The trucks, which cost about $119,000 dollars each, carry 750 gallons of water, and are equipped with a 500-gpm pump.
One of these trucks is in service at Fire Station 30 on the far east side of San Antonio and the other is working out of Fire Station 44 on the city’s west side.
Both of these trucks will prove to be invaluable to the SAFD when it comes to fighting brush and grass fires.
