The Fire Department of New York (FDNY), EMS Division, has taken delivery of 12 Wheeled Coach ambulances. It's part of a 300 unit, $114 million order. The new ambulances are built on International Terra Star cabs and chassis with V8 turbo diesel engines. Personnel who operate the Rescue Medic units are trained to operate in smoke and hazardous scenes with SCBAs. They can also operate with rescue companies in confined space and building collapse operations to treat victims who may still be trapped.
