Florida Firefighters Rescue Exotic Bird in Tree

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Firefighters in Daytona Beach rescued a squawking, exotic bird Friday from the top of a 30-foot tree at City Hall, and now authorities are trying to find its owner. Daytona Beach firefighters used a ladder truck to retrieve the blue and gold Macaw from atop the tree. Firefighter Anthony Russo coaxed the apparent pet onto his hand and slowly climbed down the ladder with the Macaw alternating between his hand and shoulder.

Firefighters in Daytona Beach rescued a squawking, exotic bird Friday from the top of a 30-foot tree at City Hall, and now authorities are trying to find its owner.

Daytona Beach firefighters used a ladder truck to retrieve the blue and gold Macaw from atop the tree.

Firefighter Anthony Russo coaxed the apparent pet onto his hand and slowly climbed down the ladder with the Macaw alternating between his hand and shoulder.

The bird is at the fire station on Beach Street, and the fire department is seeking the birds owner.

Anyone with information is asked to call the fire department.
