MEDLEY, Fla. --
Two people were injured when a tank exploded and burst into flames at a gas station on Okeechobee Road Friday morning.
The gas station, located at 9101 West Okeechobee Road, just west of the Palmetto Expressway.
Traffic on the Palmetto was backed up as drivers slowed to see the flames and black plumes of smoke.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before they spread to two other tanks in the area.
The injured men were airlifted to the hospital. Their condition is not known.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
