DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. --

A former firefighter Thursday at the Welcome Fire Department was accused of stealing $2,600 worth of fire equipment from the station.

Deputies said they were contacted by a representative at the Fire Department on June 13 after the equipment was discovered missing from a locker.

Deputies said there was no sign that the building had been broken into.

Christopher Adam Tolley, who was developed as a suspect in the case, turned himself in and was charged with felony larceny.

He was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
