Blaze Raging in Florida Bird Sanctuary

May 14, 2007

--

While the rain was needed over the weekend, the lightning that came with it sparked more brush fires.

A 400-acre blaze ignited around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday and is burning along state Road 50 near the Orange-Brevard county line, WESH 2 News reported.

The area that is burning is a federal bird sanctuary, officials said.

Authorities said they're letting the blaze burn, but they're making sure it doesn't approach area businesses.
