(CBS 3) ASBURY PARK, NJ -- A five-alarm fire completely destroyed two historic hotels in Asbury Park, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon.

The Asbury Fire Department responded to the huge inferno around 4:40 p.m. at the Atlantic and Belmont hotels on Asbury Avenue in the rear of Phillips Seaview Tower.

The two buildings, which were vacant and unoccupied, were completely destroyed. The majority of the Atlantic hotel collapsed while the Belmont was still standing but suffered major fire and smoke damage.

There were no reports of any injuries. The buildings were located on a block of buildings that was slated for demolition later this year.

Officials said that the fire does not appear to be suspicious but an investigation into the cause is ongoing.
