WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- A man accused in a series of Wausau area arsons was sentenced Monday to 38 years in prison.

Kevin Zarm, 39, of Wausau, was convicted in May of 26 charges, including six counts of arson stemming from a series of garage fires in 2003.

Marathon County Circuit Judge Vincent Howard said Zarm would be about 76 years old and no longer a severe threat to the public by the time he gets out of prison, and he will be under supervision of the Department of Corrections after that.

Police investigators, firefighters and fire victims filled the courtroom for the sentencing hearing.

Zarm faces a separate trial for allegedly killing Sylvia Grade, 84, who was found dead outside her detached garage on Sept. 11, 2003, as police investigated the fires.
