September 6, 2005 -- Booze-related misconduct for New York's Bravest has plunged in the last year, after penalties were stiffened in the wake of sex- and alcohol-fueled incidents in 2004.

With new rules and tougher enforcement, DWI arrests of firefighters are down 75 percent this year.

For the FDNY, 2004 was stained by scandal. At a Staten Island firehouse nicknamed "Southern Comfort," a drunken firefighter struck a colleague with a chair, putting him in a coma.
