About 50 firefighters fought a fire that spread to five boats in a marina near Seaport Village early Monday, NBC San Diego reported.
Boat owners said an electrical malfunction apparently started the fire in one boat Monday after 2 a.m. and it quickly spread to boats in adjacent slips in the Marriott Marina. All of the boats had highly flammable fiberglass hulls.
Nine fire engines responded to the two-alarm blaze, officials said.
There were five people sleeping on the boats when the fire started. All escaped without injuries.
