Smoke was reported in the area and fire responders drove around for a period of time before discovering the smoke was coming from the restaurant.

Flames began to shoot through the roof as firefighters arrived at the scene.

The fire did extensive damage to the bar, and the dining area sustained smoke and water damage, News4's Megan McGrath reported. The roof was also damaged.

The restaurant has been in the area for about 30 years and is known to many people in Annandale, McGrath said.

"It was a place that was frequented by older folks who came here to do karaoke and have a good time," said Dan Schmidt, Fairfax County Fire Department spokesman. "It used to be a steak and ale several years ago, but the restaurant looks like it's going to take a lot to get back on its feet."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
