BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Two teens are under arrest and charged with starting the fire that critically injured a Buffalo firefighter last summer.
Several sources confirming to 7 News that two 16-year-old boys are charged in the fire that nearly killed firefighter Mark Reed.
He was battling flames at the vacant house at 120 Wende Street last June when a chimney fell on him in a driveway.
Reed suffered head trauma, chest injuries, and a punctured lung. He lost part of his right leg to an infection and spent nearly a month at the Erie County Medical Center.
He's been getting therapy ever since, learning to walk on a prosthetic leg.
Reed tells 7 News he's grateful to all of the investigators who worked so hard on this case and he hopes justice will be served.
"I know they're going to do the right thing. Hopefully somebody is going to learn something form this beside me and my family beside the fire department. I trust they'll do something -- I just hope for the best-- I am glad everyone worked so hard and I thank them a ton!"
The teens arrested were 15 years old at the time of the fire. This case will be handled in family court. We're expecting to get more details at a news conference Friday.
