DUBOIS, Pa. (AP) -- Residents and businesses were evacuated within a two-mile radius of a tanker that began spilling chemicals along the interstate near U.S. Route 219.
It was unclear what chemical the truck was carrying, though hazardous materials crews were on the scene.
The driver noticed contents from the tank were spilling along I-80 from what was believed to be either a faulty valve, or a valve that had not been properly sealed, emergency officials said. The driver got the truck away from populated areas and called for help, officials said.
The Courier-Express of DuBois reported that officials with Dow Corning Corp. came to the area in Sandy Township, Clearfield County, to assess the situation.
Roads around the vehicle remained closed Friday morning, emergency officials said.
The truck was in a rural area about 75 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, emergency officials said.
