A carbon monoxide poisoning scare forced an evacuation yesterday morning of the Jersey City State Office Building at the corner of Summit and Sip avenues.

The incident was triggered when a garbage truck collecting trash in the building's underground garage broke down, according to Jersey City Fire Capt. Andrew Johnson.

The truck remained idling in the garage for several hours while waiting for a repair truck, Johnson said, and fumes from the vehicle were spread inside the building through the HVAC system.
