LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) -- A Lockport man faces 40 years in prison after being indicted Thursday for torching a western New York business where he worked.

Kurt St. Louis, 26, was indicted on a charge of maliciously damaging and destroying a building used in interstate and foreign commerce, federal prosecutors said.

He is accused of burning Kitchen World on Nov. 27 after being fired from his job. Authorities said St. Louis spread an accelerant around a loading dock to start the blaze, which sent three firefighters to the hospital with minor injuries.

The two-story kitchen cabinet and appliance store, which was celebrating its 30th anniversary when it was destroyed, was not occupied, but its merchandise was a total loss. Authorities said the business sustained several million dollars in damages.

St. Louis faces between seven and 40 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, prosecutors said.
