A fire caused $50,000 in damage to three commercial buildings on Airport Freeway in Haltom City early Tuesday. The buildings were shared by Atlas Portable Buildings and Classic Stone.

A fire that destroyed three commercial buildings early Tuesday in the southern part of the city was ruled suspicious by investigators.

But officials had not determined Tuesday afternoon how the blaze at Atlas Portable Buildings and Classic Stone was ignited.

The two businesses shared the buildings in the 5700 block of Airport Freeway.

The fire caused about $50,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.

"Investigators believe the fire may have started in a corner room of one of the buildings," Haltom City Deputy Fire Chief Wes Rhodes said.

The businesses' owners could not be reached for comment.

A 7,000-square-foot building was destroyed, along with two smaller buildings, Rhodes said.

A motorist reported the fire about 1:50 a.m. About 25 firefighters from Haltom City, Fort Worth and North Richland Hills battled the blaze and controlled it shortly before 3:30 a.m.

Fire crews remained on the scene for most of the morning as investigators sifted through the debris.
