What caused the death of a woman whose body was found in a motor home on fire at Alameda Point remains under investigation, police and firefighters said.
Firefighters found her body early Monday morning in the 22-foot Winnebago parked in the 1700 block of Viking Street.
Investigators declined to provide any details Monday about the woman, including her name, age or where she lived.
What sparked the fire also remains under investigation, Fire Marshall Mike Fisher said.
Crews were dispatched to the former Navy base about 2:45 a.m. on a report of a structure fire. But when they arrived on Viking Street they found the motor home ablaze.
The fire caused about $15,000 worth of damage to the motor home and about $3,000 to its contents. No firefighters were injured.
Crews initially thought they found a man's body.
"Later, we discovered it was a woman," Fisher said.
