Lexington Firefighters spent Tuesday playing Santa Claus for hundreds of needy Lexington families. Low income parents were able to pickup toys for their children for free.
The parents were selected from thousands of applications. Parents who picked up toys Tuesday say they generosity is greatly appreciated. Many of the parents say they are unable to afford Christmas gifts on their own for their children.
The Lexington Fire Department spent much of the past week asking for help from the public to make Tuesday's toy giveaway possible. The toy program was in need of donations up until the deadline on Sunday. Team leaders at Tuesday's giveaway say they believe they will be able to meet this year's need, thanks to many of those last minute donations.
