Three Virginia Firefighters Injured While Battling Flames, Heat

Three firefighters were injured Sunday while battling a fire in Fairfax County, in temperatures that reached the low 90s.

FRANCONIA, Va. (AP) -- Three firefighters were injured Sunday while battling a fire in Fairfax County, in temperatures that reached the low 90s.

The fire occurred at a home in the 1100 block of Custer Street in Franconia.

Neighbors helped to rescue an 82-year-old woman from the burning home. There's no word on what caused the fire.

One firefighter received minor burns to his hands. A second was treated for chest pains, and a third suffered heat exhaustion.
