EASTON -- A Saturday morning fire in a 14th Street duplex left three people homeless and killed two dogs.

Next door neighbor Ryan Trimmer, 9, saw smoke coming out of the kitchen windows at 14 S. 14th St. at 10:14 a.m. The boy woke his parents who then called 911.

His dad, Ed Trimmer, ran outside to alert Margaret Van Norman, who lived in the other half of the twin, at 16, 14th St., to get out of her home.

"Like a fool I grabbed a garden hose," Trimmer said.
