House Set to Vote on Broadband Legislation

The Public Safety Alliance -- which is comprised of groups including the IAFC and IACP -- is urging supporters to contact their members of congress to oppose proposed legislation.The group opposes the mandated giveback of 14 MHz, 700 MHz Sepectrum and Guard Band; supports inclusion of the allocation of the D Block spectrum and opposes the S-911 Governance model.

The group opposes the mandated giveback of 14 MHz, 700 MHz Sepectrum and Guard Band; supports inclusion of the allocation of the D Block spectrum and opposes the S-911 Governance model.

According to a press release: "states and localities have spent hundreds of millions of federal, state and local tax dollars to plan and build these networks in the past five years, and cannot justify abandoning them without a viable alternative in the next 10 years or more."
