St. Louis Firefighter Injured in House Fire

Jan. 08--A St. Louis firefighter was injured and taken to an area hospital Sunday afternoon while fighting a one-alarm fire in the city's LaSalle Park neighborhood. His injuries are not life-threatening, fire officials said.

When firefighters arrived at the building, at 11th Street and Chouteau Avenue, fire was venting from the second floor windows, authorities said.

Firefighters evacuated all the occupants of the two-story residential brick building -- a family of five. The Red Cross was on hand to assist the family, none of whom sustained any injuries.

Officials said the fire is currently under investigation.
