Two firefighters and a woman they rescued were hospitalized following a four-alarm blaze in North Bergen Wednesday afternoon.
Crews responded to the fire shortly before 1 p.m. on the second floor of a three-story building at 7404 Broadway, according to The Jersey Journal.
The structure houses a business on the first floor and apartments above.
The fire eventually spread to neighboring buildings and clouds of black smoke could be seen more than a mile away.
Two North Hudson firefighters climbed a ladder to a third-story window to rescue a trapped woman with flames burning behind her.
All three were treated for smoke inhalation following the rescue.
The fire was under control by 3:30 p.m. and the roof of the building collapsed.
