GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.
A Grand Junction family said their baby's crying helped save them when a fire started inside their home.
The parents said they heard the baby crying Monday at 7:30 p.m.
When they went to check on the baby, they noticed light smoke building up in the living room.
They got out of the house and called 911.
The home has moderate damage, according to firefighters.
Investigating are still trying to determine the exact cause of the fire. Investigators believe the fire started in the chimney in the attic.
Firefighters said the family was fortunate to be awake at the time of the fire because firefighters couldn't find a functional smoke detector in the home.
