March 30--Two men and a woman were rescued from atop of an overturned vehicle stranded in the rain-swollen Red Bank Creek on Wednesday.

CalFire said the rescue efforts started at 2:51 a.m. off Paskenta Road, where a swift-water rescue team from the CalFire and Butte County Fire Department responded to the emergency.

It took the swift-water rescue team nearly 31/2 hours to rescue the stranded trio, who had been trapped on top of the vehicle since around midnight. They had attempted to drive across the roadway flooded by 3 feet of rushing creek water, according to reports.

CalFire said no injuries were reported.

CalFire officials strongly recommends never driving through flooded creeks and moving water, especially if drivers cannot see the ground through the water.
