The Deming Fire Department, volunteers and Emergency Medical Technicians are offering an emergency information program that could help save lives in Deming and Luna County.
City of Deming Mayor Andres Z. Silva signed into proclamation on Monday "Individual Personal Planning Week, April 14-22 in Deming and Luna County.
"We are asking everybody to take advantage of this life-saving program that will help our EMTs and emergency room personnel better serve our citizens in emergency situations," said Chief Edgar Davalos, Deming Fire Department.
Wallet-sized cards have been printed that can be filled out and laminated and posted on refrigerators or bulletin boards in Deming homes.
"The cardholders can fill out them out and provide vital information and statistics for household members that will be extremely important for our EMTs, emergency room personnel or law enforcement personnel when they happen on a scene," Davalos said.
Cards will also come with a packet to provide vital statistics for each household member.
"We suggest filling out the packet, as well, and placing that information in a Manila envelope for safe keeping," Davalos said.
Cards and packets can be picked up at the Deming Fire Department on S. Gold St., or at the DFD Administrative Office at 312 S. Silver St.
The DFD also held its third annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7, at the Scout Park on the corner of Granite and Ash St. Over 100 children took part in the hunt and were treated to hotdogs and refreshments after the hunt.
"We handed out Easter Baskets to all of the kids, filled with goodies," Davalos said.
Assisting in the event were the volunteer fire departments in Luna County.
