An Houston Fire Department ambulance sustained four bullet holes Monday night, and although one pierced the patient compartment, no one was hit.
EMS crews who found the street blocked by a vehicle when they arrived to treat a man with a leg wound asked the driver to move. Later, they drove around him, according to KTRK-TV.
The providers and patient were in the back when the man shot the ambulance four times. One went into the patient compartment and struck medical equipment, according to reports.
No one in the ambulance was hurt.
After shooting at the ambulance, the gunman fled. Police say they know who they are looking for.
