Dec. 13--Parker and Tarrant County fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a six-alarm fire at the Adell Community Fellowship Church in Parker County Thursday morning.

Joel Kertok, a spokesman with the Parker County Emergency Management Office, said the fire was reported about 8 a.m. at the 12,000 square-foot church, located on Adell Circle and Farm Road 1885, northwest of Weatherford.

"A motorist passed by at 8'oclock and saw some smoke seeping out of a window and reported it," Kertok said.

Nobody was inside when the fire broke out Thursday morning in the church's sanctuary, he said. Kertok said firefighters from approximately 18 different departments had brought the blaze under control before 1 p.m.

"The firefighters did a great job. No civilians were injured; no firefighters were injured," Kertok said. "They were able to keep the fire contained to the building which was something very important on a day like this with the strong south winds and the dry vegetation."

Kertok said arson investigators and the church's insurance company will investigate the cause of the fire but said there is no reason to suspect at this time that the blaze was intentionally set.

Kertok said the non-denominational church has a congregation of about 90 members. He said the church is planning to hold Sunday services in their original sanctuary, located on the same property.
