Woman Dies in Collision With Ore. Fire Dept. Ambulance

A woman died and two paramedics and the patient they were transporting were hurt in a collision between a car and a Eugene ambulance.

July 31--A woman died Wednesday when her vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a Eugene Fire Department ambulance on Clear Lake Road, Oregon State Police reported.

The woman, whose name was not released, died at the scene, troopers said.

Two paramedics and a patient in the ambulance were taken by another ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with non-life threatening injuries. Their names were not released.

Troopers said the ambulance was on a non-emergency transport with no lights or siren activated.

The accident remains under investigation.
