Georgia Firefighter Charged With Theft

-- Nov. 24--THOMASVILLE -- A Thomasville Fire/Rescue firefighter was released on bond from the Thomas County Jail after being charged with felony theft. Derek Lee Colson, 34, Dillon Road, was arrested Wednesday morning by Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents at Thomasville Fire/Rescue. He is charged with one count of felony theft by taking and was released on a $7,500 bond.

Nov. 24--THOMASVILLE -- A Thomasville Fire/Rescue firefighter was released on bond from the Thomas County Jail after being charged with felony theft.

Derek Lee Colson, 34, Dillon Road, was arrested Wednesday morning by Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents at Thomasville Fire/Rescue.

He is charged with one count of felony theft by taking and was released on a $7,500 bond.

Steve Turner, special agent in charge of the Thomasville regional GBI office, said Colson has been participating in the collection of aluminum cans for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Victims Foundation.

The cans were being recycled, with proceeds to go to the Foundation, Turner explained.
