Vote OKs New Jersey Fire Budget

PLAINSBORO - Voters approved the township's regional $1,391,393 fire district budget proposal for 2004 by a vote of 65-12 yesterday, but the vote among three candidates for two seats on the fire commission board was too close to call.

The budget requires collecting $1,384,164 in taxes with a fire tax rate of 6.6 cents per $100 of assessed property value. Last year's rate was 6.5 cents per $100 of assessed property value.
