A Louisiana fire chief has shown an incredible dedication to his community by riding his bicycle to respond to emergencies in the wake of Hurricane Ida.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office posted the details on Facebook about Lockport Volunteer Fire Department Chief Armand Autin, who has continued responding to calls via bicycle with multiple bridges out following the storm. According to the post, Chief Autin was driving his truck to the nearest passable bridge or loading his bike onto a small water craft to reach people in need of assistance on the bayou.
"So many affected fire departments are taking these types of measures to continue to meet the needs of their communities," the post says.
