Theft Charges Placed Against Ex-Perry County, KY, Fire Chief, Treasurer
The former fire chief and the treasurer of a Kentucky fire department are accused of stealing thousands of dollars.
Ex-Jakes Branch Fire Chief Jamie Farris and Sharla Stacy, the former treasurer, were indicted by a Perry Grand Jury on theft and abuse of public trust, WYMT reported.
The probe was initiated in January when Kentucky State Police were contacted by the state's fire commission who suspected misconduct.
The two, who were in a relationship, were arrested Monday afternoon.
They were booked into the Kentucky River Regional Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bonds. If released, they were ordered to stay away from the fire department.
After resigning from Jakes Branch, Farris took a job with the Hazard Fire Department, where he was placed on leave.
